Reviewing Inflectional Endings -ed and -ing spelling patterns!

Students were misspelling many words when adding the suffixes -ed or -ing when they needed to "drop the e" or "double the consonants". Word study time!

As students went to read, they were to locate and record one word that represented the spelling pattern. We sorted them and tomorrow we will have a mixed review using these words!

1920's and 1930's Learning!

Students learn about the Dust Bowl and its devastating effects on the geography and economics of the time.

Students learn about immigration through Angel Island and explore what a "Paper Son" is.  We used this awesome book to learn more!

Learning about the Great Depression with this picture book. Students learn content-specific vocabulary while following "Rudy" travel by train across the United States.

Students are watching mini video clips learning about some important people and ideas post WWI:

Students read two articles from NewsELA that addresses the economics of life during the 1920s. It was considered the time of "buy now, pay later". With the introduction of the washing machine, the vacuum, and the refrigerator housework was lessened and free time increased.
