JA BizTown

 Students have spent weeks building their understanding of finances and the basics of operating a business. Students applied for a loan from the BizTown Bank to cover operating expenses with the hopes of making a profit during their day at BizTown. 

Students worked hard and showed great professionalism and determination at their job placement. Way to go fifth graders!

Making a Prototype

 

Students are eagerly preparing for their visit to Junior Achievement's Business simulation field trip to JA Biztown in Chesterfield, Mo. 

In this lesson, students learn about scarcity, natural and human resources, and the free enterprise business market.  

Students must employ creativity, collaboration, and teamwork with limited resources. Each team is offered the following materials:

• paper
• one pair of scissors
• one stapler
• one marker
• one tape dispenser

Students evaluated how the materials and resources impacted production and how the volume of product produced contributed to the possible selling price. 

Junior Achievement BizTown St. Louis 2020

Students made their trip to JA BizTown in St. Louis. After weeks of lessons to prepare us for Financial Literacy, students put those skills to work. Here are some shots of the day!

Preparing for BizTown

Students have been preparing for our trip to JA BizTown in St. Louis in January. What prototype can you make? What can you mass produce and earn a profit?

First Week Preparing for BizTown

Students have started our lessons on preparing for our BizTown field trip. In April, we will go to BizTown in St. Louis and simulate a modern day economy. Students will prepare over the course of the next few weeks. Here students are making a prototype and learning about the scarcity of supplies.
